Quote from Sir Ranulph Fiennes

A lot has happened at the India Association since my last blog entry. We have some fantastic patrons on board and are delighted to welcome Clare Short and Ranulph Fiennes, who sent me this wonderful message of support;

“I am delighted to offer my support to Bobby and the India Association, as a patron for Bobby’s Walk Full Circle. I admire Bobby’s determination to carry out such an impressive feat at the age of 79 and I can appreciate just how challenging the walk will be for him, both physically and mentally … I wish him the very best with the walk and will watch his progress with interest.” Ranulph Fiennes, Explorer

On Monday 14th April, some of the India Association committee attended an Art Exhibition at the Osborne Gallery in Chelsea, to show our support and appreciation of IA Adviser, Colin Green and his charity IMET2000. The gallery was displaying the stunning works of artist, Sophie Walbeoffe, whose paintings were inspired by her time spent in Palestine. There were about 40 paintings on display, ranging in price from £500 – £12,000 apiece.

Sophie read from a diary she had kept during her time in Palestine, explaining how the colours, smells and noises inspired her beautiful works, which will be on display at the Osborne Studio Gallery until 3rd May – so if you like art and supporting worthy causes, please head to 2 Motcomb Street London SW1X 8JU.

Sophie agreed to donate some of the profits from the sale of her paintings to Colin Green’s charity, IMET2000 and Colin has generously pledged to donate some of that money to Bobby’s Walk Full Circle, which he promoted at the exhibition, to the 50 or so guests in attendance.

We thoroughly enjoyed the event and meeting the assorted guests, who were fascinated to hear about Bobby’s Walk.

The India Association committee have also been busy planning our Vaisakhi Dinner & Dance, which is taking place at the Riverside Venue, Cranford, next Saturday 26th April 2014. This event will mark the official launch of Bobby’s Walk Full Circle and all of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Bobby’s Walk fund. If you would like to make a donation to support the Vaisakhi event or Bobby’s Walk Full Circle, please visit the India Association website (www.indiaassociation.co.uk).

I will let you know how the Vaisakhi event goes in my next post.

Until then, ‘arise, awake and stop not until the goal is achieved’.
