Warrior Queens and Evening Surprises.

Bobby still had a spring in his step from the day before.

Bobby breaks into a jog on the way to JhansiAs soon as the sun was up he broke into another jog along the highway

Maybe it was because we were not far from Jhansi?

He was past the village of Tilak Nagar by late morning and we left the highway to head into Jhansi’s city centre.

I had been speaking to Shiv Kumar Chaturvedi and told him we would be entering from this route.

Bobby would walk along the more narrow and busy city roads but the distance was too long for one session so I found a petrol station for us to stop at on the way.

After the rest Bobby continued and along the way we stopped at a Saksham hospital where Bobby was greeted with flower garlands and presented with a small statue of Jhansi Ki Rani.

Lakshmibai, the Rani of Jhansi, was the queen of the Maratha-ruled Jhansi State, situated in the north-central part of India. She was one of the leading figures of the Indian Rebellion of 1857 and became for Bobby is interviewed at the Elite Crossing in JhansiIndian nationalists a symbol of resistance to the British Raj.

We had a press conference in the city centre later in the day but I decided we had enough time to carry out some other important jobs beforehand such and visiting the bank.

The press conference had been arranged at a place called Elite Crossing and when we arrived we discovered it was a busy roundabout in the centre of the city.

Chair had been placed by the side of the road with cars and motorcycles ushered out of the way so that the Walkmobile could park on the roundabout itself!

Reporters had gathered along with cameramen who took notes and film as Bobby made a speech about his journey so far and the causes being supported.

Our stay for the night had been arranged at a government rest house but when we arrived there after the press conference we discovered our tall vehicle would not be able to navigate the steep entrance.

Furthermore the front gate would be locked and would not open again until 09:00 the next morning. This was less than ideal as we would need to leave at 05:00.Rahim and Satinder give Bobby flowers for his birthday

I had made sure since the start of the Walk to always have a backup in hand and I had previously researched other stop locations toward the edge of th city.

I hung out of the window and shouted directions to Satinder who shouted them to Rahim.

It was early evening when we finally arrived there.

Later that evening Rahim and Satinder surprised Bobby with flowers and a lovely meal for his birthday.

All through the day, Bobby thought we had forgotten with our busy schedule but we had been planning all the while.

Before Bobby went to sleep that night I read him all of the email, texts, Whatsapp and Facebook messages he had been receiving throughout the day.

He went to sleep with a smile on his face as did I.
